This passage contains Paul’s sermon at Mars Hill in Athens. His audience is made up of the intellectual elite and leading philosophers of the day. However, even though they were very learned humanly speaking they were spiritually ignorant. Evidenced by all the idolatry and worship to false gods that filled the city, these men did not know the one true God at all. So in this sermon we see Paul making God known to those who did not know Him. From his sermon we can learn much about how to make god known to a society full of people who do not know the one true God we worship.
