As believers, even when we know what God wants us to do we will sometimes rebel against His directions and commands. God is always merciful as he corrects us, and brings us back to His Will and direction. In this passage, brother T J brings our attention to one such example in the book of Jonah. God had commanded Jonah to go to Nineveh and preach God’s judgement to the Ninevites. Jonah rebelled against this, and chose to go the complete opposite direction across the Mediterranean Sea. In this sermon we find God directing a great fish, in His mercy, to swallow Jonah, and carry him for three days before vomiting him up on the beach. God uses this time to turn Jonah’s heart back toward Himself, and restore Jonah to his task. Brother TJ highlights how God uses trials in our lives in His time, and for His purpose, as well as our proper response to these trials, as well as how the three days and nights points to the redemptive work of Christ.
